Advent Calendars According to Danish custom, each child should have a Christmas Calendar at Christmas. Small, inexpenisve gifts are wrapped and hung on the rings, one for each day of December. The calendar is hung up on the first day of December, and each day until Christmas, the child opens the gift for the day. When filled with tiny packages, the calendar is a most attractive Christmas decoration, and the prospect of a surprise gift each day delights the children. All kits are done by counted thread embroidery in cross stitches with cotton thread. The design is not stamped on the material but is counted from a paper chart and the background is not filled in. Unless otherwise specified, the calendars are done on cotton Aida. Each it contains material, chart, thread, bone rings, needle and directions. Fittings not included.
